Short story

I took up film photography as a way to slow down, breathe, and let go. At a time when the demands of perfection, and the speed of life felt overwhelming, I fell in love with the potential of every flaw, blur, grain, over or underexposure, and light leak to add character and a texture of memory to a moment that is often invaluable and difficult to replicate digitally.

Film gives me the ability to control only so much with my skill and craft. The rest is a surprise too late to alter in real time. I value that anticipation, and relinquishing control as a way to keep our memories human and breathing.
